Seventh Annual Latin America Energy Conference – Shaping a New Era of Energy Systems

Event Summary This event has passed.

In 2023, Latin America’s energy landscape continued to grow in complexity. Governments across the region showed increased interest in diversifying energy sources, which included investments in bioenergy projects, and non-conventional renewable sources. While these trends deepened, countries like Brazil and Guyana continue to invest in fossil fuel exploration and production, bolstering their presence in the global oil market. The Seventh Latin America Energy Conference will explore how the region can use tools like energy diplomacy, strategic investments, regulation, and technology and information to reconcile the need to urgently transition to low carbon economies with their use of natural resources to trigger sustainable development. The conference will convene energy company executives, US and Latin American government officials, and international and nongovernmental organizations to discuss the how the region will shape a new era of energy systems.

This event will be held in person, with an online livestream, at the Inter-American Dialogue from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EDT.
