The Inter-American Dialogue hosted on May 31 a private roundtable event featuring Ricardo Luna, the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Relations, and prominent members of the Washington DC policy community. The 90-minute discussion highlighted the Minister’s position on the best way for the international community to handle the crisis in Venezuela and how to confront infrastructural-based corruption throughout Latin America. Finally, Minister Luna addressed some of the upcoming plans his government has in its preparation to host the eighth Summit of the Americas next March in Lima.
It was just over a year ago that leaders of 34 nations of the hemisphere gathered in Trinidad and Tobago for the Summit of the Americas. How much progress has been made in the past year on the goals expressed at the summit?
