Among the many traits of their political culture, Nicaraguans have expressed beliefs and passions on politics and authority through poetry, music, novels, and paintings. These expressions highlight the country’s history of resistance and hope. Award-winning Journalist Carlos Fernando Chamorro will talk with Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy on these issues. Mejía Godoy, a renowned Nicaraguan songwriter exiled alongside many other Nicaraguan artists and leaders, was a first-hand witness to the resistance music of the seventies and has produced music and poetry spanning four decades.

Join us on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM EST for this conversational and musical exchange that aims to reflect and deliberate on the political situation in Nicaragua through art. The event will take place in-person with the event being streamed through Zoom and on the Dialogue’s YouTube page. If you wish to join in-person, register now as seating capacity is limited.
