On October 13, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue convened the virtual panel discussion on “Youth Employment and Sustaining Latin America’s Economic Recovery. In partnership with the United Way and Aspen Institute, the Inter-American Dialogue invited panelists to discuss how to create sustainable youth employment, highlighting the need to create better tools for job readiness and new frameworks to create opportunity for young people.

On August 31st, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue supported the press conference “Latin American Press Under Siege,” organized by Fundamedios. The event focused on the worsening persecution of journalists across Latin America and called for the immediate release of detained journalists in Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba.

On August 26, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue’s Corporate Program hosted “ESG Investment Trends in Latin America and the Caribbean,” an online event. Three speakers led the discussion: Andrea Bonime-Blanc, CEO of GEC Risk Advisory; María José Cortés, the head of ESG at Atlas Renewable Energy; and Ben Ho, vice president of BlackRock Sustainable Investments. Devry Boughner Vorwerk, the CEO of DevryBV Sustainable Strategies and a former corporate vice president at Cargill and Grubhub, moderated the event.

On June 28, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue hosted the online event “Deepening Cooperation on Health Policy in the Americas.” The panel discussed a new report published by the Inter-American Health Task Force, which analyzed the response to Covid-19 in the Western Hemisphere and identified recommendations to improve cooperation and coordination in health policies across the Americas.
On July 8, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue hosted a congressional staff briefing on China’s Covid-19 engagement with Latin America. Panelists discussed developments in Chinese diplomacy in the Latin American region, both before and amid the pandemic.
