Regional Repository of Chinese Investments in Latin America

The Regional Repository, developed in 2024 by the Chile-based Millennium Nucleus on the Impacts of China in Latin America and the Caribbean (ICLAC), the Inter-American Dialogue, and a team of partners and researchers across the hemisphere, attempts a granular and continuously updated account of confirmed Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Latin America and the Caribbean—since China began “going-out” in the early 2000s. Over time, drawing on the unmatched expertise of partner institutions in Latin American and Caribbean countries, this tool will provide up-to-date, georeferenced data on Chinese FDI in countries across the region, beginning with Argentina, Chile, and Peru. In addition to its FDI data, the Regional Repository is also a collection of high-quality, academic, and multilingual case studies on individual Chinese FDI projects.
