Roberta Clarke is an activist for social justice and gender equality and is the second vice-president of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and rapporteur on the Rights of LGBTI Persons at the Organization of American States (OAS), and rapporteur for the United States. Elected by the General Assembly of the OAS in 2021, Clarke is serving a four year term as rapporteur on the Rights of LGBTI Persons that ends on December 31, 2025. Clarke has led UN Women Regional Offices in East and Southern Africa, Asia Pacific, the Caribbean, and Libya and prior to her career at the United Nations, she practiced as a lawyer in Trinidad and Tobago. She has been engaged in civil society and the national and international levels including as the chair of the Executive Committee of the International Commission of Jurists and as president of the Coalition against Domestic Violence, Trinidad and Tobago. She is the chair of the Harassment Committee of the Caribbean Court of Justice.
