Melania Brenes-Monge is a Costa Rican specialist in projects and programs for the educational use of digital technologies. She serves as the academic vice president at EduTech in Central America, a company that seeks to support educational systems to develop wide-scale capabilities through the inclusion of digital technologies. Brenes-Monge is also the co-founder of Scentury Tech, a start-up that develops an Integrated Educational Information System (SIGED) that will be available for the entire region in 2023. Additionally, she is the leader of Didacticus 101 Education Group, a research team that provides consulting services to companies and international cooperation entities.

From 2018 to 2019, she served as executive director of the Professional Development Institute, and from 2019 to 2021, she was the academic vice minister of the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica. She has served roles as a researcher, evaluator, curriculum designer, and project manager from the Omar Dengo Foundation. For more than 16 years, she has developed her career in this field in Costa Rica and has collaborated with other ministries of education in Latin America. 

Brenes-Monge holds a degree in psychology from the University of Costa Rica, a master’s degree in psychopedagogy from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia, and a doctorate in education from the University of Almeria in Spain. She also has several specializations in new technologies from the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) in Argentina, project management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR), and development economics for educational leaders from the Zurich Polytechnic Institute (ETH Zurich).
