Jean Baden Dubois is the current governor of the Banque de la République d’Haïti (BRH) and has held this position since 2015. Dubois has over 25 years of experience within the Haitian financial system that started when he joined Citibank in 1990. Dubois was among 20 professionals selected from Citibank branches in Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in a management trainee program known as Entering the CITI which is equivalent to an MBA in banking and finance. Dubois also holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering, with a minor in operational research, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to becoming the governor of the BRH, Dubois held many positions within the central bank. He started as an administrative director in 1995 after which he worked as an expert delegated to the office of the minister of economy and finance. From 2001 to 2011, Dubois held the position of director of BRH’s information and technology department. Lastly, before becoming governor, Dubois joined the governing board of the BRH as managing director.

Throughout his career, Dubois has sought to implement reforms that intensify the modernization of the BRH and the Haitian payment system, resolve the Haitian economy’s imbalances to break the poverty cycle, and promote sustainable and inclusive growth. Key elements of the governor’s agenda include the duty-free zone development program, a credit access facilitation program for exports-producing firms, an incentive program for the tourism and hospitality industries, promotion of co-ownership, agricultural duty-free zones, real-estate development projects, the introduction of partial-credit guarantees, and agricultural insurance programs.
