Denis Roumestan is currently the executive director of Think Tank Haiti (TTH), a joint initiative of Université Quisqueya and the Inter-American Dialogue. Roumestan is a seasoned senior international consultant and attorney (Québec Bar) and has been practicing in North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Africa. He has been living and working in Africa since 2001.

His experience covers also major projects related to institutional development, peace building, democracy and good governance in post-conflict and developing countries, and legal drafting, all with a focus on gender and conflict transformation. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Roumestan was chief of party of a USAID funded project called “Capacity Building for Responsible Minerals Trade (CBRMT)” aimed at formalizing artisanal mining in conflict zones, with a view of empowering women and protecting children. Additionally, Roumestan is a senior specialist in issues related to the trafficking of persons and is a senior lecturer in universities in Central Eastern Africa where he teaches international and development law as well as conflict transformation and resolution processes.

Roumestan is fluent in French, English and Spanish, has a good understanding of Haitian Creole, and has some knowledge of Arabic, Italian, Kinyarwanda/Kirundi, and Ki-Swahili.
