Carolina Cosse

Carolina Cosse has served as the mayor of Montevideo, Uruguay since November 2020. She was minister of industry, energy, and mining from 2015 to 2019. She focused on the strong implementation of policies to advance national industrial production, contribute to the diversification of the energy matrix, and promote the development of the mining sector, as well as telecommunications and micro, small and medium companies, particularly innovative industries such as audiovisual industry, design, electronics, robotics, and AI. She was president of Antel, the state-owned telecommunications company from 2010 to 2015, where she promoted the democratization of access to ICTs and important infrastructure projects, taking the company to a number one position in Latin America. From 2007 to 2010 she held her first political government position. As the director of the information and technology division of the municipal government of Montevideo, she carried out projects that significantly impacted the lives of its citizens. Cosse graduated from the School of Engineering of the Universidad de la República and holds a master’s degree in mathematical engineering.
