The Politics of Peace in Colombia
According to most accounts, a peace accord between the Colombian government and the FARC seems at hand. All Colombians want to bring the country’s longstanding and costly armed conflict to an end, but while supporters of President Juan Manuel Santos accept the final terms of the agreement regarding transitional justice and the FARC’s participation in politics, opponents argue the provisions amount to impunity for criminals and terrorists. Both proponents and critics agree that implementing the accord will be very difficult and complicated.
The Dialogue is pleased to welcome an esteemed panel of Colombian experts to discuss the politics of peace and the post-conflict challenges ahead. Follow this event on Twitter at #PolíticaDePaz and @The_Dialogue.
