The Inter-American Dialogue’s President’s Leadership Council holds its Fourth Annual Meeting and welcomes two new members

Washington, DC – The President’s Leadership Council held its fourth annual meeting on June 5, 2018. Business leaders met with key figures from the administration, Congress, civil society, and academia to address the most pressing issues affecting US-Latin American relations. Discussions focused on trade and immigration policy, cooperation to fight corruption, and the implications of China’s growing involvement in the region.

Dialogue President Michael Shifter was pleased to announce the addition of Iván Chávez, from Mexico, and Claudia Blum, from Colombia, as new members to the Council. Chávez is the executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta. In this role, he oversees domestic and global expansion of the company’s resort and entertainment interests. Claudia Blum is the former president of the Senate of Colombia and has also served as the permanent representative of Colombia to the United Nations. She is currently an executive director at TQ International Corporation.

The President’s Leadership Council is comprised of a select group of influential business leaders and change agents throughout the Americas that share the Dialogue’s commitment to the values of democratic governance and economic and social progress, and play an important role in shaping our agenda.
