Inter-American Dialogue Welcomes New Board Member, Donna Hrinak

Washington, DC – The Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to announce that Donna Hrinak, vice president of Boeing International and president of Boeing Latin America, Brazil, and Canada, has re-joined the Dialogue’s Board of Directors, effective January 2020. She previously served on the Dialogue’s Board from 2005 to 2014. 

“We could not be more delighted to welcome Donna back to the Dialogue’s Board,” said Michael Shifter, president of the Inter-American Dialogue. “Her enormous contributions of time and talent to the Dialogue’s governance and program work since 2005 are incalculable. We are gratified and honored to once again count her among our leadership team.”

Ambassador Hrinak has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining Boeing, Hrinak was vice president of global public policy and government affairs at PepsiCo and corporate affairs director for Latin America and the European Union at Kraft Foods. Before that, she held numerous diplomatic posts, serving as US ambassador to Brazil (2002-2004), Venezuela (2000-2002), Bolivia (1997-2000), and the Dominican Republic (1994-1997), and as deputy assistant secretary of state for Mexico and the Caribbean (1991-1993). She is a board member of Adtalem Global Education and is also a member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) and of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT). Hrinak writes and speaks frequently on foreign policy and gender issues.

About the Dialogue’s Board of Directors

The Dialogue’s Board is co-chaired by Laura Chinchilla, former president of Costa Rica, and Tom Shannon, former US undersecretary of state for political affairs. Of its 17 members, four have served as president of their countries, four served at the cabinet level, three in senior diplomatic posts, two have held leadership positions in international organizations, and four are corporate leaders. Policy and program direction of the Dialogue resides with the Board of Directors, which also provides financial and administrative oversight.
