Thomas Dougherty has been a member of the Board of Progreso, a construction materials company, since March 1999 and is currently the chairman. Progreso is present in seven countries of Central America. Before that, he was the chairman of the Board of Agregua (Agregados de Guatemala, S.A.), which is a Progreso company. Presently, he sits on the Board of HELPS International, a nonprofit providing enduring programs of practical, social, and spiritual value to people. Also, he sits on the Board of Centro de Produccion Mas Limpia, CGP+L (Center For a Cleaner Production), a nonprofit helping the industry of Guatemala achieve more environmentally friendly and more efficient production processes. He is a former president of the Camara de Industria de Guatemala (Guatemala’s Chamber of Industry).
Dougherty has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, with continued education in family businesses at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois. In 2001, he attended the PAG Program (Executive Management Program) at INCAE in Costa Rica.
