Teiji Hayashi assistant minister for the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau in the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was previously deputy assistant minister for Economic Affairs Bureau / Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. He also served as Japan’s sous-sherpa for G7 and G20. After graduating from Tokyo University Bachelor of Public Law, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988. He has been involved in various fields relating to public diplomacy and economic affairs, serving as the director for Intellectual Property Affairs Division, and director for Public Diplomacy Planning Division, and at that time he worked for the establishment of the Trilateral Forum Tokyo. He also served as director for Economic Partnership Division and TPP negotiator at the TPP Headquarters in the Cabinet Secretariat. His overseas posts have included counselor at the Embassy of Japan in Argentina, counselor at the Japanese Delegation to the OECD, and minister in charge of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in People’s Republic of China.

Hayashi was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
