Ramiro Ortiz Mayorga is president and chair of Grupo Promerica, the owner and operator of banks throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. He is also founder of the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the promotion of art, health and education, for which he is currently vice president.
He is the first Nicaraguan to receive the FECAMCO Order, issued by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Central America. In 2013 he was awarded the Award for Business Excellence by the American Chamber of Commerce, the highest award granted by the private sector in Nicaragua, in recognition of his business leadership in the service of the nation. He was also recognized by El Museo del Barrio in New York City for promoting Nicaraguan art and culture.
