Rafael Pardo is a Colombian economist and politician who served as post-conflict minister. He has been a member of the Inter-American Dialogue since 2007.
From 1991 to 1994, Pardo was minister of defense under President César Gaviria. He was elected to the Senate in 2002 and served as a member of the Liberal Party until 2006. In 2011, President Juan Manuel Santos announced Pardo’s appointment as the first minister of labor. Originally educated at the Universidad de los Andes, Pardo was a fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University from 1994 to 1995.
Rafael Pardo, Member of the Dialogue & former minister of defense of Colombia, has published a new book titled La guerra sin fin: Una nueva visión sobre la lucha contra las drogas, or “The War with No End: A New Vision for the Fight against Drugs.”
