Margarita Ercilia Aravena Gaete is the director of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in Santiago, Chile. She has developed undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and evaluation for learning, cognitive abilities, and institutional self-evaluation in the pedagogical career programs of Chilean public and private universities. She has a special interest in reading strategies, cognitive skills, and institutional self-assessment.
Additionally, she has completed research on higher thinking skills and teacher evaluation in Spain and Portugal. Before working with the OEI, she worked as a rapporteur on alternative assessment techniques to develop critical thinking in higher education students and teachers at Chilean and Spanish universities.
She has a doctorate in educational planning and innovation from Andrés Bello University in Chile.
