Luiza Helena Trajano is chairwoman of the board of directors of Magazine Luiza. She was responsible for the leap of innovation and growth that placed Magazine Luiza, in the following decades, among the largest retailers in Brazil.

Putting people first, entrepreneurial attitudes, innovation, and creativity are some of the concepts she has always adopted and encouraged in her team. Among the results of these beliefs and practices is the presence of Magazine Luiza in the ranking of “Best companies to work for” for 24 consecutive years. 

She also serves as a counselor in 18 different entities such as the Institute for Retail Development (IDV), UNICEF, and the Consultative Group of the UN Population Fund in Brazil. She was named Person of the Year 2020 by the Brazil-US Chamber of Commerce. She is president of the Women of Brazil Group, which brings together more than 105,000 participants in centers distributed throughout the country and abroad.

Throughout her trajectory, she has received hundreds of recognitions and awards as an entrepreneur, businesswoman, woman, and leader. In 2021, she was chosen as the only Brazilian in the prestigious TIME 100 list, which selects the 100 most influential people in the world. She was also chosen by the Financial Times as one of the 25 most influential women in the world, being the only Brazilian mentioned.

She has also been ranked as the business leader with the best reputation in Brazil by the Spanish consultancy Merco over the past five years and is also the only Brazilian executive in the global list of the World Retail Congress (WRC). Magazine Luiza has more than 1,400 stores in 18 states and has more than 47,000 employees.

Trajano was awarded the Distinguished Leadership for the Americas Award for Social Equity by the Inter-American Dialogue in 2022.
