Juan Guaidó is President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, where he represents his home state of Vargas. He is recognized by over 50 countries as Interim President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Guaidó is a founding member of his political party, Voluntad Popular, in which he has held a number of roles. He also served as head of the Democratic Unity Faction in the National Assembly.

Guaidó graduated as an industrial engineer from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) in Caracas. He did postgraduate studies in public management, with academic training at the George Washington University (GWU), UCAB and the Institute of Higher Studies in Administration (IESA). His interest in politics began during his time as a university student, during which he was active in the student political scene at his university.
