Giselle Carino is the CEO for the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region (IPPFWHR) where she leads a network of 45 autonomous local partners that work to guarantee that sexual and reproductive health and rights are a human right for all. In 2017, IPPFWHR’s network provided more than 36 million healthcare services in the Americas and Caribbean.

Prior to joining IPPFWHR in 2000, Carino worked for the Inter-American Parliamentary Group on Population and Development, where she developed policy briefings, proposed regulations, and trained Latin American and Caribbean members of Parliament and other policymakers on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Carino received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in Argentina and has a Master of Public Administration from New York University. She is a co-founder and past coordinator of the Latin American Consortium Against Unsafe Abortion, where she serves as advisory member, and part of the Board of Directors of Women’s Link Worldwide, the Safe Abortion Action Fund, and Catholics for the Right to Decide/Mexico.
