5G in Latin America: An Interview With San Salvador’s Mayor

Ernesto Muyshondt was elected Mayor of San Salvador on May 1, 2018, as a member of the Nationalist Republican Alliance Party (ARENA). His term extends through April 2021.
Born in 1975, he also holds the presidency of the Salvadoran Institute for Municipal Development (ISDEM) and the presidency of the Council of Mayors and Planning Office of the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (COAMSS / OPAMSS), which is comprised of 14 municipalities that make up Greater San Salvador, the country’s most populous and influential area.
Before being elected Mayor, he served as member of the Salvadoran Parliament, Secretary of the Political Commission of the Legislative Assembly and Director of External Relations of the National Executive Council of Nationalist Republican Alliance.
As mayor, he has focused on growth and development, while implementing significant social programs, promoting community development through physical activity and sport, safer neighborhoods and housing, community centers and job training, youth violence prevention, as well as Smart 912, a municipal app that brings together all city services, providing immediate information aimed at improving the quality of life of San Salvador’s citizens.
Mayor Muyshondt obtained his high school degree and US diploma from the American School of El Salvador. At the age of 17, he began his university studies and acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Science from the Dr. José Matías Delgado University, in El Salvador. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the INCAE Business School and a diploma in Banking and Finance from the School of Economics and Business (ESEN).
