Alberto Rojas Ríos

Alberto Rojas Ríos is a Colombian jurist and politician who served as magistrate and president of the Constitutional Court of Colombia until February 5, 2021. He has a master’s degree in human rights, democracy and international justice from the Institut de Drets Humans at the University of Valencia, Spain, and was PhD candidate at the same university.

He has been a professor of civil procedural law and constitutional guarantees at the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the National University of Colombia, the Universidad de los Andes, and the Colegio Mayor Nuestra Señora del Rosario. He is a member of the Colombian and Ibero-American Institute of Procedural Law, an elected member of the Colombian Academy of Jurisprudence, and co-judge of the Constitutional Court.

Rojas served as attorney general and deputy attorney general in charge of the nation and delegate attorney for civil matters. He has been a legal adviser to the board of directors and to the presidency of the House of Representatives, consultant and adviser to the United Nations, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, and Ecopetrol, among others.
