Alberto Carrasquilla is Colombia’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit. Carrasquilla was previously finance minister from 2003 to 2007 under former President Alvaro Uribe and was also a technical economist at the central bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. Since 2017 he is a member of Crowe Horwath.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors in several companies. Between 2007 and 2017 he was a partner of Konfigura Capital and Professor of Economics at the Universidad de los Andes. Between 2005 and 2007 he was elected Chairman of the Development Committee, an advisory body of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. In 2006 he was elected President of the Board of Governors, the main decision-making body of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF). Previously, he was Vice Minister of Finance (2002-2003), Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Universidad de los Andes (2000-2002), Independent Consultant (1998-2000), Lead Research Economist at the IDB in Washington (1997- 1998) and Technical Manager of the Banco de la República (1993-1997).

Carrasquilla studied economics at the University of Los Andes in Bogota and has a doctorate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
