Remittances to LAC in 2015

Event Summary This event has passed.

The Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to invite you to a discussion on remittances to Latin America and the Caribbean, including 2015 trends, 2016 prospects, and country case studies. This event is part of the Dialogue’s Remittance Industry Observatory, an initiative that seeks to share information and analysis about the remittance market.

We will review the main findings of a new report on remittance flows to the region, which again grew over 6% in 2015. The report takes a look at how levels of remittances vary from country to country and are affected by a number of key factors, including international relations, migration policies, demographics, and economic growth in both home and host countries. We will also address remittance growth from a country perspective, including trends affecting Cuba and El Salvador.

Opening remarks will be followed by a wide-ranging exchange with participants and an expert panel.
