This event will be held in Spanish with English and Portuguese interpretation.
In the last year, the pandemic has created an unimaginable disruption in the education system of Latin America and the Caribbean. Even though many countries invested resources to support distance learning, academic outcomes show that many students are falling behind. Learning poverty by the end of primary education could increase by more than 20 percent. Over two in three lower secondary education students could fall below minimum proficiency levels, and learning losses will be especially widespread for the most vulnerable students.
Now more than ever, it is important to support a safe and effective school reopening to start the long recovery process. This webinar will discuss the results of a World Bank report on the costs faced by countries in the region due to school closure and emerging lessons on the subsequent reopening of schools. During this event, panelists will discuss policy recommendations for a safe return to school and learning recovery.
