This coming March 20, the Organization of American States (OAS) will select a new Secretary General to serve a five year term among three declared candidates. In the first of a series of conversations with the candidates, the Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to welcome María Fernanda Espinosa for a conversation about her background, views on the hemisphere, and vision for the OAS.

Espinosa formerly served as President of the 73^rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly from 2018 to 2019. She has held positions within the Government of Ecuador that include Minister of Foreign Affairs (2017-2018), Minister of Defense (2012-2014), and Minister of Heritage (2009-2012).

Espinosa will engage in a wide-ranging exchange with participants.
