Doing Justice: Electing the Best Judges and Commissioners to Enforce International Human Rights Law

Join the Inter-American Dialogue, the Open Society Justice Initiative, the Due Process of Law Foundation, CEJIL, and the American University Washington College of Law Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law for a timely discussion about important developments and new opportunities to improve the processes by which human rights judges and commissioners are nominated and elected to regional human rights systems. In particular, panelists will discuss a seminal report, published by the Open Society Justice Initiative and the International Commission of Jurists, which analyzes the nomination practices of 22 countries in the Americas, Europe and Africa, identifying outstanding practices, and offering recommendations for improvements.

The event will be held in English. Lunch will be served.
