QUALIFICATIONS:

The Inter-American Dialogue seeks an entry-level Development and External Relations Coordinator to join its team and support the senior staff in a range of activities.

The candidate will have initiative, excellent communications, organizational, and administrative skills, outstanding problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. Candidate must have the capacity to juggle multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously, while being able to work under short deadlines, and deliver in a rapidly changing, fast-paced office environment.

The successful candidate must be extremely organized, friendly, poised and employ excellent judgment. A Bachelor’s degree is required.  Experience in fundraising and external relations is preferred, but not required. Experience with database software such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge and InDesign and experience and interest in using social media platforms is also preferred. Strong computer skills (including Office 365, Word, and Excel) and native fluency in English and fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is required.

The Development and External Relations Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director, Development and External Relations. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the entire staff, but mainly with staff from Office of the President.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

75% Development and External Relations

  • Work closely with Dialogue’s Development and External Relations Director on execution of the organization’s Development and Communications Action Plan and strategies.
  • Assist with special events (Annual Awards Gala, President’s Leadership Council annual meeting, and other stewardship events).
  • Research, organize and manage donor prospect information (on individuals, foundations, corporations, international finance institutions, and governments).
  • Help manage the organization’s database; track and acknowledge all contributions in the CRM
  • Update fundraising statistics and prepare donations reports for the President, the Board of Directors’ Development Committee, and other senior staff.
  • Assist with correspondence and invoicing for the Dialogue’s Corporate Program marketing and membership renewal processes.
  • Assist with the production of the organization’s annual report.
  • Manage website: proofread and upload Dialogue program content (articles, op-eds, event summaries) onto the website in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Manage the Dialogue’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn) daily; implement an institutional social media strategy.
  • Maintain relations with press and media outlets.
  • Collaborate with Dialogue’s program staff to package promotional content across digital platforms and into proposals, using the Dialogue’s branding and style guides.
  • Track performance metrics (audience growth and engagement) over time.
  • Draft and produce written correspondence such as letters, reports and other documents as required.
  • Coordinate mailings of solicitation letters for the Associate Program and Annual Campaign.
  • Communicate via telephone with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Dialogue in an efficient, effective and professional way.
  • Assist with weekly tasks (including stewardship and collections) related to processing of pledges and dues from supporters.
  • Other tasks related to Development and External Relations, as assigned.

25% General Office Support

  • Assist in maintaining the Dialogue’s database and ensuring quality control.
  • Provide other administration support regarding fundraising activities.
  • Provide assistance as needed for scheduled events.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors and handle vendor issues, as needed.
  • Supervise and manage workload of intern(s).
