“Todos a Aprender”: Colombia Puts Learning at the Center of its Education Policy

On June 28, 2011, PREAL Co-director Jeffrey Puryear gave the keynote address at the 8th Congress of the Latin American Institute of Educational Leadership (ILALE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The conference was co-organized by Nova Southeastern University of Miami and ten Dominican institutions, including PREAL counterpart EDUCA.
The theme of the conference was “Quality Education: Key to Reducing Social Differences.” Puryear discussed the implications of recent international experience and research for promoting effective teaching in Latin America. Some 300 government officials, education specialists and teachers participated in the conference. Puryear also appeared, along with EDUCA executive director Aida Consuelo Hernández, on the national TV talk show Uno + Uno to discuss education reform.
