What can we learn from SERCE?

˙ PREAL Blog

We are pleased to share with you a presentation prepared by PREAL to highlight the key findings of the second regional student achievement test in Latin America and the Caribbean (SERCE), implemented by UNESCO in 2006 and published earlier this year.

This series of graphs and tables compares all 16 participating countries regarding their mean performance; students with high and low achievement; differences in performance between students from rural and urban areas; differences in performance between boys and girls; and the relationships between countries’ income and investment in education and their performance on the exam. Each figure is accompanied by a brief text that we hope will enhance the understanding of the policy implications of these results for education in the region.
