¿Qué dice la literatura internacional sobre la efectividad del desempeño docente?

Hoy no se discute el hecho de que los docentes son de una importancia central para producir una educación de calidad. Sin embargo, la literatura está repleta de controversias sobre los más variados aspectos de la efectividad docente. Barbara C. Hunt – especialista en temas docentes con amplia experiencia en el análisis de América Latina– realizó una exhaustiva revisión de la literatura internacional en estos temas, incluyendo investigaciones que aplican metodología estadística tradicional, aquellas que utilizan “metodologías de valor agregado” –que ayudan a identificar qué parte del desempeño de un estudiante en una prueba estandarizada se puede atribuir a la intervención del docente en un año dado– e investigaciones con estudios de caso y abordajes etnográficos. Sus hallazgos buscan ayudar a entender y aportar soluciones para el mejoramiento de programas educativos en América Latina.
