Sylvia Escovar, former president and CEO of Organización Terpel S.A., was appointed as chairman of the Board of Directors for GeoPark, a leading independent Latin American oil and gas explorer, operator and consolidator with operations and growth platforms in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Ecuador.

Before assuming the position of president at Terpel, the largest gasoline and oil derivatives retailer in Colombia, Escovar worked for the company for more than 15 years in different managerial positions. She also was the vice president of the Corporate Group. An economist by training, Escovar has previously worked for the World Bank, the Central Bank of Colombia and the National Department of Planning. She also served as deputy secretary of education and deputy secretary of finance for the Bogota municipal government.

 

Escovar is a Member of the Inter-American Dialogue. She sits on the Dialogue's Board of Directors.
