Dialogue member Pierre Pettigrew has been appointed Chair of the Board for the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC), effective immediately.

The APFC was established by the Canadian Parliament in 1984 to strengthen economic relations and diplomatic ties between Canada and Asian countries, particularly China, India, Japan, and South Korea. Their areas of focus include promoting Canada’s expertise in the energy sector and in combating climate change, as well as improving Canadians' understanding of the Asia-Pacific region.

“Since its inception, I have regularly collaborated with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, during my time in both the public and private sectors," said Pettigrew. "It is a tremendous honour to be appointed chair, especially at a time when we, and the international community, engage with this continent on the rise. Helping Canadians understand and better engage with Asia is at the heart of our mission.”

Pierre Pettigrew is a member of the Inter-American Dialogue.
