Bolivia & the Global Fight Against Climate Change
In the past year, the Bolivian government has emerged as an outspoken critic of climate change policies.
Christiana Figueres was awarded the honorary title of "Dame of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
Figueres, former executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and vice-chair of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, received this decoration for her environmental leadership and contributions to the fight against climate change, including her fundamental role in the Paris Agreement.
Said the UK Ambassador to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, Ben Lyster-Binns, "I am delighted that Her Majesty The Queen has awarded Christiana Figueres the appointment of Dame for her extraordinary work on climate change. Christiana works tirelessly to protect the planet."
Christiana Figueres is a member of the Inter-American Dialogue.
