The Dialogue hosted a book talk with Marie Arana, author of “Silver, Sword, and Stone: Three Crucibles in the Latin American Story”. In this book, Arana weaves three modern stories with the history of the past millennium to explain three enduring themes that have defined Latin America since pre-Columbian times: the foreign greed for its mineral riches, an ingrained propensity to violence, and the abiding power of religion.

Assessing the Outlook for Energy Investment in Latin America

We can now see more clearly the way their policy decisions have affected the energy sector and opportunities for investment. Meanwhile, Argentina holds presidential elections later this month. Venezuela, in turn, faces a worsening economic crisis as oil production plummets. Industry experts, government officials, and corporate representatives convened to discuss these issues and their regional impacts on October 2 at the Inter-American Dialogue.

Looking Back at the 22nd CAF Conference
