On February 25, the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies held a webinar on security challenges in Latin America. Lisa Viscidi, director of the Energy, Climate Change & Extractive Industries Program at the Dialogue, spoke about China’s role in the region’s energy sector and the US response.
On February 17, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue hosted the online event “Biden’s Central America Plan – Perspectives from the Region” in partnership with Creative Associates International. Taking into account the Biden administration’s plan for Central America, speakers addressed the region’s doubts, needs and aspirations with respect to US partnerships toward short-term and long-term development in the region.
Dialogue alumnus Eric Jacobstein joins the Biden-Harris Administration as a senior advisor to the Latin America and Caribbean Bureau in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
