On December 13, 2019 the Inter-American Dialogue, in partnership with International Institute for Democracy and Election Assistance (IDEA) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), hosted “Is Democracy in Trouble? Latin America in Global Perspective”, an event to launch IDEA’s The Global State of Democracy 2019 Report: Addressing the Ills, Reviving the Promise.
On Sept. 18, 2020, members of the Inter-American Dialogue’s corporate program met virtually with José Manuel Restrepo, Colombia’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and Flavia Santoro, the President of ProColombia.

On December 10, 2020, more than 700 participants joined live for “Forward Together: A Conversation with Former Presidents of the Americas,” a virtual panel of former presidents featuring Laura Chinchilla of Costa Rica, Ricardo Lagos of Chile, Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, and Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico. The discussion was moderated by Karen DeYoung of The Washington Post. The program began with opening remarks by Michael Shifter, president of the Dialogue, and Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon, Jr., co-chair of the Dialogue’s Board of Directors, offered closing remarks.
On March 18, 2021 the Dialogue’s Presidents Leadership Council met virtually to discuss the priorities of the Biden administration and the US Congress towards Latin America.

On October 13, 2021, the Inter-American Dialogue convened the virtual panel discussion on “Youth Employment and Sustaining Latin America’s Economic Recovery. In partnership with the United Way and Aspen Institute, the Inter-American Dialogue invited panelists to discuss how to create sustainable youth employment, highlighting the need to create better tools for job readiness and new frameworks to create opportunity for young people.
