This draft paper presents an analysis and the results of fieldwork in the area of financial education as a tool to convert remittance clients into bank clients. The paper analyses the financial characteristics of remittance recipient clients who receive financial counseling and the extent to which they modify some of their attitudes and practices on budgeting and saving in particular. The analysis is based on data collected on the evaluation of over 35,000 clients receiving financial advising in four countries, and who withdraw their remittances from twelve financial institutions.
