Roberto Kriete Ávila is president of Grupo Kriete, an investment firm with holdings in the aviation, real estate, agribusiness, hospitality, and private equity industries. He is also co-founder of Avianca and Volaris, chairman of the Board at Avianca-Taca, and president of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, and the Gloria de Kriete Foundation. He also serves as president at the Coatepeque Foundation, and is a member of the board of directors of the non-profit organizations Ágape (against extreme poverty) and FUNDASALVA (rehabilitation against drug addiction). He served as secretary of Banco Agrícola Comercial of El Salvador.

He has received distinctions as Officer of the Legion of Honor of the French Government, is an honorary member of the Salvadoran Foundation for the Economic and Social Development, and was decorated with the Order of the Central American Integration System (SICA) for pioneering an integrating vision in Central America through commercial aviation. Ávila has a BS in Economics from Santa Clara University and a MBA from Boston College.
