We are pleased to announce the release of Gustavo Ioschpe’s new book on education in Brazil, “O Que o Brasil Quer Ser Quando Crescer?” (“What Does Brazil Want to be When it Grows Up?”).
The book, which includes 34 articles published in VEJA between 2006 and 2012, challenges conventional wisdom regarding Brazilian education and focuses on the issues the author feels will be the most likely to foster improvement. Ioschpe argues that Brazil must reconsider the foundations of its education system – learning methodologies, homework, and merit-based rewards – to compete with the world’s advanced countries.
This video by the book’s publisher, Campanhia Das Letras, provides an overview of some myths explored in Ioschpe’s book. The book is now available in Brazilian bookstores or online here.
