On Friday, the China and Latin America Program welcomed Ricardo Duarte, president of the board of the Colombia-China Chamber of Commerce, trade specialist, and former deputy minister for Colombian business development, and Paulina Durango, a lead negotiator for Ecuador’s China-sponsored Coca-Codo Sinclair dam project and more recently for Chinese infrastructure projects in Quito. Having worked extensively with Chinese public and private entities in recent years, Duarte and Durango shared their thoughts on the advantages and drawbacks of China’s expanding economic engagement in the region, as well as perspectives on future China-Colombia and China-Ecuador relations.
