The latest edition of the ProEducación series, which features an opinion column that highlights keys to improving educational systems worldwide, based on a recent study by international consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

The issue also provides introduction to various documents produced by international, business and civil society organizations, including the final report by the Organization of Ibero-American States entitled “Metas Educativas 2010” (Educational Goals 2021), the report “Brechas: Estado de la educación en México 2010” (Gaps: The State of Mexican Education) by the organization Mexicanos Primero (Mexicans First), a report by the Guatemalan group Empresarios por la Educación (Business for Education) that warns against the country’s low education budget, and the results of the PISA 2009 test, distributed by the OECD.

Also explained are several partnerships involving the business sector aimed to benefit education, including an agreement between Telefónica and the Panamanian Ministry of Education to improve primary education and eradicate child labor, and one between the Fundación Empresarial para el Desarrollo Educativo (Business Foundation for Educational Development) and USAID to raise education quality and school infrastructure in public schools in El Salvador.
